    The i-STAT EG6+ cartridge combines blood gas analysis with sodium, potassium, and hematocrit in a single test returning results in approximately two minutes. It provides the chemistries important for diagnosing and treating patients with electrolyte imbalances, cardiac distress, and respiratory issues alongside quantitative hematocrit and blood gas values for assessing oxygenation and acid-base status. Like the EG7+, the EG6+ reports calculated bicarbonate (HCO3), which is essential for distinguishing metabolic from respiratory causes of acid-base abnormalities. Electrolyte measurements are traceable to NIST reference standards.

    Intended use

    Intended for use in the in vitro quantification of Sodium, Potassium, Hematocrit, pH, oxygen partial pressure, and carbon dioxide partial pressure in arterial or venous whole blood. Also for Sodium, Hematocrit, pH, PO2, and PCO2 in capillary whole blood.


    Storage and handling

    Cartridges should be stored refrigerated at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. Once removed from refrigeration, cartridges can be held at room temperature (18 to 30 degrees Celsius) for up to 14 days. Allow cartridges to equilibrate to room temperature before use. Do not freeze or expose to temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius.


    Frequently Asked Questions

    The EG7+ adds ionized calcium to the EG6+ panel. If ionized calcium is not part of your clinical workflow, the EG6+ delivers the same blood gas, electrolyte, and hematocrit data at the same speed.

    Capillary whole blood supports sodium, hematocrit, pH, PO2, and PCO2. Potassium requires arterial or venous samples.

    If you need electrolytes (sodium, potassium) and hematocrit alongside your blood gas results, the EG6+ gives you all of that in one test. The G3+ only provides blood gas values.
