ABOUT THIS PAGE

If you are here, something is going on with your AU5810.

Maybe the user guide went missing and your new tech needs to learn the cuvette maintenance or ISE electrode replacement procedure. Maybe the photometer is flagging absorbance errors, the sample probe is detecting clots in clean samples, or the ISE module is drifting on electrolytes. Maybe the water supply system needs attention, the cuvette wheel is due for replacement, or the reagent refrigeration compartment is not holding temperature. Maybe your Beckman Coulter service contract is up for renewal and the price jumped. Or maybe you are running the numbers on continuing to repair this high-throughput workhorse versus replacing it.

Block Scientific is an independent laboratory equipment company with 40+ years of experience. We are not Beckman Coulter and we are not affiliated with them.

What we are is a company that knows the AU chemistry platform inside and out, with a Centers of Excellence designation for the AU5810 and nationwide service coverage. Tell us what you need and we will get back to you within one business day.

DOCUMENTATION

AU5810 Manual and Documentation Help

The AU5810 comes with a comprehensive Operator's Guide covering system architecture, the dual-module configuration, sample processing, reagent management, ISE operation, photometer calibration, cuvette maintenance, water system management, quality control, and troubleshooting. Additional documentation includes method sheets for each assay, ISE electrode maintenance guides, and LIS interface specifications.

These documents go missing in high-volume labs. If you need help locating a specific AU5810 document, tell us which one using the form below.

PARTS

AU5810 Parts Inquiries

The AU5810 is a high-throughput floor-model chemistry analyzer capable of up to 2,000 photometric tests per hour with its dual-module design. Common replacement items include ISE electrodes and reference electrodes, sample and reagent probes, cuvette wheels, photometer lamps, mixing bars, wash nozzles, water supply filters and deionizer cartridges, reagent compartment cooling components, and various pump assemblies. The system uses disposable cuvettes in a rotating cuvette wheel and requires a continuous water supply.

Block Scientific can help identify the right component for your AU5810. Our primary focus is service, refurbishment, and full system support. If the repair is more involved than a component swap, we can discuss whether a service visit or system evaluation makes more sense.

SERVICE

AU5810 Service and Preventive Maintenance

The AU5810 requires daily water blank checks, regular cuvette wheel maintenance, ISE electrode conditioning and replacement on schedule, photometer lamp monitoring, probe alignment verification, and periodic deep system washes. The dual-module architecture means both modules need independent maintenance attention. Reagent compartment temperatures should be verified regularly, and the water supply system (including deionizer cartridges) requires scheduled replacement.

Block Scientific offers four service plan tiers:

AU5810 Service and Preventive Maintenance

AU5810 Troubleshooting Help

TROUBLESHOOTING

AU5810 Troubleshooting Help

Common error categories on the AU5810 include ISE module drift and calibration failures, photometer absorbance errors (lamp aging, cuvette contamination), probe errors (clot detection, level sensing, alignment), water system alerts (pressure, flow, deionizer depletion), cuvette wheel errors, reagent temperature alarms, and communication errors with LIS. The dual-module design means errors can be module-specific, which helps isolate root causes.

Block Scientific cannot provide repair procedures on this page, but our support team can help determine whether the issue is ISE-related, optical, mechanical, or water-system-related.

If your AU5810 is down, note that in the form and we will prioritize your request.

Downed instruments get priority.

REPLACEMENT

AU5810 Refurbished Replacement Systems

When repair costs on this high-throughput system exceed its value, or when you need additional chemistry capacity, a refurbished AU5810 from Block Scientific goes through our Centers of Excellence multi-point inspection including both module photometers, ISE validation, probe alignment, water system testing, and full panel runs.

Replacing an AU5810 with another AU5810 means no retraining, same reagent inventory, same LIS interface, and no result correlation concerns. Block Scientific offers financing and trade-in credit.

TECHNICAL OVERVIEW

About the Beckman Coulter AU5810 Chemistry Analyzer

About the Beckman Coulter AU5810 Chemistry Analyzer

The Beckman Coulter AU5810 is a high-throughput, floor-model clinical chemistry analyzer designed for large hospital laboratories and reference labs. It features a dual-module architecture capable of processing up to 2,000 photometric tests per hour, making it one of the highest-throughput standalone chemistry systems available. The system handles serum, plasma, urine, and CSF samples with automatic sample rerun and dilution capabilities.

The AU5810 is part of the Beckman Coulter AU chemistry platform that traces its lineage to the Olympus AU series. The platform evolved from the Olympus AU400, AU480, AU680, and AU5400 before Beckman Coulter acquired the Olympus Diagnostics division. The AU5810 replaced the AU5400 as the high-throughput flagship. It shares reagent compatibility and operational concepts with the AU480 and AU680, allowing labs to maintain assay correlation across different throughput tiers within the same AU ecosystem.

Each module contains its own photometer with reusable cuvettes in a rotating cuvette wheel, ISE electrodes for electrolytes, sample and reagent probes, and mixing mechanisms. The system requires an external water supply and produces continuous waste that must be managed. Reagent positions are refrigerated. The graphical user interface is standardized across the AU platform.

The AU5810's installed base is concentrated in high-volume hospital core laboratories and reference laboratories. Its dual-module throughput, reagent compatibility with the broader AU family, and proven Olympus engineering heritage keep demand strong for documentation, parts, ISE electrodes, cuvette wheels, and refurbished units.
