Pacific Hemostasis SickleScreen Assay Set, 30 Detections

When patients are in crisis, the SICKLESCREEN test provides fast and accurate differential solubility tests for screening Sickle Cell disease. The test is also used for diagnosing sickle cell trait.

The Thermo Scientific SICKLESCREEN products use a modified Nalbandian procedure that provides fast and accurate results for screening hereditary Sickle Cell disease and Sickle Cell Trait. Both Sickle Cell disease and Sickle Cell trait are detected. When Sickle Cell patients are in crisis, their Hb S becomes sickle or cresent shaped and can no longer carry oxygen. The abnormal cells often break apart and can cause damage to the spleen, kidneys, bone, eyes, lungs and central nervous system.

The procedure is based on the differential solubility of Hemoglobin S (Hb S) and Hemoglobin A (Hb A) in concentrated phosphate solution.

The 120-test kit contains phosphate buffer (4x125 mL) and four sodium hydrosulfite vials.

The 30-test kit contains a bottle of phosphate buffer (125 mL) with a dispensing cap and 30 pre-filled reaction vials.

Positive and negative controls are for Hb A and Hb S.

For use on manual, semi-automated, and automated coagulation analyzers.
