Greiner Bio-One Expands Blood Collection Product Portfolio

Greiner Bio-One

A world market leader in the field of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, clinical diagnostics, and research, Greiner Bio-One is the leading manufacturer of blood collection sets, Vacuette blood collection tubes, urine cups, and more. The company recently added the VACUETTE® CAT Serum Fast Tube and VACUETTE® SAFETY Winged Blood Collection Set to its safe blood collection product category.
Wounds caused by needles that accidentally puncture the skin expose healthcare workers to the risk of various infectious diseases. The use of blood collection safety products in clinical settings, laboratories and hospitals minimizes the risk of needle stick injuries with a contaminated device.

Greiner Bio-One's VACUETTE® SAFETY Winged Set is a sterile, single-use winged blood collection set. It consists of a stainless steel needle, color-coded wings, flexible tubing, a luer adapter and a safety shield for the needle. The product without holder is suitable for short-term infusion of intravenous fluids. The Winged Set comes with a simple safety mechanism that allows three different options for activation. Once the safety mechanism has been activated, the needle is securely and irreversibly locked in the plastic safety housing. This set also features flexible wings for a good grip on the patient's skin and a convenient puncture. This manufacturer's Winged Safety Blood Collection Sets with Luer Adapter also features this safety mechanism.

Greiner Bio-One's new VACUETTE® CAT Serum Fast Tube is the first on the market to combine the quality of serum analysis with the speed of plasma analysis. It is the optimal tube whenever results are needed fast. Compared to conventional serum tubes, coagulation takes just five minutes with the Serum Fast Tube. The tube is coated with a mixture of blood clotting activator (BCA) and thrombin. As an accelerator, Thrombin speeds up the coagulation process. Coagulation takes just five minutes, followed by centrifugation for five to ten minutes, so that the tube offers a major time-saving benefit over conventional serum tubes that typically have a duration of about 40 minutes. With the short coagulation time, blood collection is also possible shortly before transport to the laboratory. Also, the added gel forms a stable barrier between the serum and the cellular components of the whole blood after centrifugation. Preanalytical errors are reduced and accurate values can be used for diagnosis.
