Self Monitoring - The Preferred Option to Monitor Health

In response to the increasing demand from patients for self-monitoring tools, point-of-care diagnostic products are now widely available. Roche Diagnostics, the leading manufacturer of equipment and reagents for research and medical diagnostic applications recently launched their CoaguChek INRange meter, the next generation of INR patient self-monitoring meter for patients on warfarin anticoagulant therapy. This self-testing meter allows patients to send their results to their clinic via an App on their phone using wireless connectivity. Users can get results in less than a minute.

Along with this new product launch, the Atrial Fibrillation Association has published a survey that helps to discover patient thoughts and opinions about INR self-monitoring versus clinic visits. The new survey shows that 9 out of 10 patients on warfarin would find self-monitoring an easy and quick way to monitor their health. The survey highlights that 86% of patients agreed that they would consider patient self-monitoring, which would provide them a life free from frequent clinic visits besides allowing them to send results to their healthcare provider.

The founder and CEO of the Atrial Fibrillation Association, says, "The AF Assoc. welcomes the launch of the INRange meter that can be a future-proof solution to the needs of patients on warfarin. The results of the survey showed that nearly 80% of patients would want to self-monitor giving them independence when travelling for work or pleasure".

CoaguChek INRange meter also helps physicians to keep patients on track and in range - anytime, anywhere. On-screen help provides text guidance throughout the test procedure. Its Bluetooth® technology allows you to wirelessly transmit PT/INR results to your healthcare provider, so you can be confident you are in your target therapeutic range and in control. With trending reports, comments and color-coded graphs, physicians can quickly see where their patients' PT/INR is heading.
