A leading global provider of temperature assurance packaging, Sonoco ThermoSafe has revealed the results of its survey, “Assessing the Future of the Cold Chain Industry”. The survey highlights forward-looking trends that could have a significant effect on the cold chain industry, including environmental, logistics, trends, and products and services.
It was to gain a deeper understanding of the rapidly evolving packaging and logistics market for the transport of temperature-sensitive products that Sonoco ThermoSafe sponsored and conducted a survey between February 26 and July 13, 2014. Up to 165 respondents in more than 20 countries and five continents answered 26 survey questions.
“As a leader in temperature-controlled packaging, Sonoco ThermoSafe continuously strives to be at the forefront of upcoming trends and key issues that drive our industry”, said Russell Grissett, vice president and general manager of Sonoco ThermoSafe.
Grissett said that the study contained two key takeaways:
- Multiple drivers including environmental concerns and the need to improve supply chain efficiencies are encouraging customers to resort to reusing passive packaging systems
- Two factors will have a dramatic impact on the industry in the next five years – a stronger influence of global regulations and continued outsourcing of non-core activities by pharmaceutical companies
Founded in 1899, Sonoco ThermoSafe provides an extensive selection of packaging components and comprehensive thermal engineering and testing services. The company’s temperature assurance packaging is designed to keep valuable and sensitive products within a safe temperature range during transit. The company’s product solutions include insulated shipping boxes and containers for temperature-sensitive enzymes and reagents at workstations, blood collection tubes, and much more.
It is expected that the insights gained through this recent survey will help the company contribute in an even more meaningful way to the overall health and growth of the markets in which it participates.
